Hot and Spicy Nuts

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a little nutty, a little spicy. The language you hear on Bourbon Street can be a little salty too, which makes this a perfect recipe for kicking off your Mardi Gras party.

Ingredients
Preparation time: 40 minutes.

4 tbsp sweet (unsalted) butter
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp ground cumin
1 tsp celery salt
1 tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp seasoned salt
2 tbsp coarse salt
3 cups of your favorite unsalted nuts (one kind or mixed)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 325˚F. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in all the remaining ingredients except the coarse salt and nuts and let simmer for several minutes. Add the nuts and mix until evenly coated. Remove from heat, then spread the nut mixture on a baking sheet. Bake for 15–20 minutes, shaking the baking sheet occasionally. Remove from the oven and toss the nuts in the coarse salt. Serve warm, or let cool and store in an airtight container and reheat before serving.

Makes 3 cups.
