Maintenance Supervisor

MISSION STATEMENT


Supervises facility maintenance services for Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyard in accordance with the preventive maintenance, aesthetics and safety programs.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning: (30%)
• Assist in the creation and distribution of weekly Maintenance work schedules, ensuring consistent and adequate coverage for both Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyard, including harvest functions.
• Work closely with both Manager and Production Department to ensure correct and timely repairs of equipment, implementation of preventative maintenance program, and scheduled line change overs.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of maintenance for both Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyard facilities.
• Update Preventive Maintenance (PM) program and coordinate schedules in order to ensure daily requirements are met.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and suppliers on sourcing of routine maintenance tasks.
• Create, maintain, and process invoices through SAP.
• Assist in design of schematics, floor plans, and process flows for future facility improvements.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of capital investment projects.

Facility Maintenance: (25%)
• Supervise and coordinate both internal staff and outside venders to maintain and repair various facility infrastructures.
• Create drawings and material lists for projects.
• Responsible for maintaining chemicals in approved containers, report any spills and clean up if approved.

Production Maintenance: (20%)
• Serve as direct supervisor of second production shift.
• Maintains functional knowledge of all production equipment operation.
• Responsible for supervising production line changeovers and adjustments in a timely manner.
• Understands and can troubleshoot electrical schematics, PLC programming and electrical controls.
• Responsible for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems.
• Supervise fabrication of replacement parts with a lathe and milling machine or welder.
• Schedule and supervise Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) on all production equipment as directed by work orders.
• Responsible for supervising the disassembly of machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.  Conducts testing on repaired machinery to verify adequacy and safety of work.
• Complies with all safety requirements, company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

Compliance: (10%)
• Maintain and implement Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyard Storm Water Prevention Plan (SWPP).
• Track and report both process wastewater and domestic water requirements for Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyard to Napa County Environmental Management.
• Participate in routine facility inspections by various governing agencies and implement mandated requirements.

Team Management: (10%)
• Responsible for the Management of team(s) in charge. Act as a leader and escalate issues through the proper communication channels.
• Responsible for the development of team(s) in charge. Assist in addressing and appraising performance, identifying training and development opportunities and acting as a coach/mentor when required.
• In tandem with Facilities Manager, assist in interviewing and hiring new employees.
• Assist in overseeing the training of all Maintenance personnel.
• As needed, maintain and submit accurate payroll records and timecards for all Maintenance personnel.

Safety: (5%)
• Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
• Conduct departmental inspections as outlined in company procedures.
• Identify any potential safety concerns and offer solutions to rectify.
• Maintain and update departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED


Education:
• High School or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have valid California driver’s license.

Languages: English

Professional experience & know how:
• 5 to 10 years in Wine, Food, or Soft Drink maintenance skills, experience in electrical, plumbing, welding, and general building maintenance.

Technical & management skills:
• Electrical and mechanical skills, PLC programming, read and understand schematics.

Personal & interpersonal skills:
• Ability to successfully lead a team of individuals spread across multiple properties and departments.
• Must be self-motivated and able to recognize items that need improvement.

Production Forklift Operator

Maintain a superior quality of wines by performing a variety of routine bottling and cleaning procedures as well as special projects, such as hand labeling, special packaging and other non-standard packaging.


Forklift Operation: (50%)


• Load and unload production trains, ensuring proper placement of both product and dry goods into the required location.


• Transport to and from warehouses finished good and WIP product.


• Load and unload the Champagel with the correct inventory as per managements direction


• Stage product into the cold room for the next day's production.


• Stage sur latte product in warehouse 2, and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and within the designated timline.

• Assist in unloading and loading of glass trucks, including paperwork consolidationPrepare and conduct inventory.


• Support tirage line through the supply of glass and removal of packed bins, including confirmation of tags prior to placement on the train.



Production: (30%)


• Ensures the automatic loader (Champagel is functioning correctly and bottles are loaded and proceeding through the line efficiently, must keep records of bins coming in with correct cuvee for the day. May be required to assist in dumping and washing of caps at the disgorger.


• Filler/Corker/Wire Hood/Tumbler/Washer/Foil Station: Responsible for stocking supplies and watching for low fills or abnormalities with the operation of each piece of equipment. Must check dosage; keep records of bottles used to fill filler or other bottles such as dumps and/or losses for the day.

• Case Erector/Packer/Case Sealer Station: Responsible for ensuring equipment is functioning correctly and manual placement of inserts into box. Verify cases are loaded with appropriate number of bottles as well as inspect for quality assurance, may add neckers or promotional material or close gift boxes as necessary. Verify all boxes have inserts, and must ensure erector is full at all times and glue sealer has plenty of glue.

• Palletizer Station: Ensure equipment is properly functioning, shrink wrap pallets, tag pallets with appropriate paperwork and then forklift to the loading dock. Must lift cases when needed to fix machine in safe manner.


• Glass Depalletizer Station: Responsible for cutting open pallets of shrunk wrapped glass and unloading onto conveyor. Must keep accurate count of glass coming in.


• Rover: Must manually pack as needed, put doors on bins, put on straps and fill in as needed. Keep records of bins rotating in and out for that day's production.
• Still wine line production: Dump glass and place empty cases on overhead conveyor. Ensure fill heights are within specification, corker hopper has proper corks and is kept full. Hand packing of bottles is required, along with inspection of labels as they move through the line before packing. Hand palletizing of finished and unfinished product, shrink wrap pallets, and place tags on pallets with appropriate paperwork.

• Covering production line, performing operator duties when needed.


• Ensure all quality standards are being performed to established standards.


• Reportmachinery problems in a timely manner to management.


• Cover various production line stations during breaks, performing operator duties when needed.



Organizing: (10%)


• Keep work area clean and organized.


• Follow all safety procedures in operation of equipment and daily operations.


• Works with other departments to help where needed which include but are not limited to: Maintenance, Cellar, Warehouse, Sanitation, VLMs and Janitorial with flexible schedule changes as directed by Management.


• Performs general duties as assigned, or as the situation dictates.


• Conduct inventory counting of dry goods, surlatte, surpoint and unfinished product during daily, monthly, quarterly or annual inventories.



Analysis/Administrative: (10%)


• Entering transfers into SAP data base.


• Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of daily record keeping and physical inventory of finished, WIP product and dry goods material.


• Accurately record all bins moved from warehouses on a daily basis.


• Participates in training and safety programs as directed by Production Supervisor in order to enhance job performance and knowledge of safe work practices.



Qualifications



Education: High school diploma or GED required



Language: English required



Professional experience & know how:



Minimum 3 years winery production experience.

Knowledge of safe production practices, including safety of equipment and following procedures.


Ability to drive a forklift and become forklift certified.


Technical skills:

Ability to understand and perform basic math.

On Call Salon Cook

Domaine Chandon is currently seeking a On Call Salon Cook.

The On Call Salon Cook prepares and cooks food according to the instructions of Visitor Center Manager in a quality and timely manner, while exhibiting excellence in customer service, in order to create a world-class experience for every guest.

Culinary:  (65%)

  • Prepares food / sandwiches for Visitor Center guests and staff, following recipe or ingredient instructions.

Domaine Chandon Ambassador

Domaine Chandon is seeking a Chandon Ambassador

Reporting to the Visitor Center Manager, the Domaine Chandon Ambassador to communicate the uniqueness of Domaine Chandon and Newton Vineyard, through a consistent and impactful Brand message, while exhibiting excellence in customer service, in order to create a world-class experience for every guest.

The Domaine Chandon Ambassador will be responsible to:

Create a High-Quality Visitor Experience:  (60%)


• Represent our wines and Brand in a friendly, professional manner both at the winery and in the market.

• Perform wine service and tastings for all visitors including wine trade and VIP's, in a Brand-consistent manner.

• Facilitate scripted tour, adding consistent quality to delivery and accuracy of message.

• Safely escort tours through tour route, adjusting to the needs of the winery.

• Consistently discuss benefits of food with wine, up selling and recommending food purchase in the Salon as well as reservations at etoile restaurant.

• Suggest multiple-bottle purchases, in addition to adding-on merchandise to each sale.

• Convey all levels of club benefits to all visitors with clarity and sincerity.

• Meet monthly club acquisition goals, consistently striving to improve personal sign-up performance.

 

Efficient Service and Staff Support:  (40%)


• Operate point-of-sale system with accuracy in sales, shipping, and inventory management.

• Follow assigned Set up and Break down schedules in tasting rooms

• Re-stock wine, glassware and operational supplies as needed

• Maintain clean and well-stocked Tasting Room.

• Participate in set up and clean up of tours and tastings

• Stock wine and merchandise, daily. Keep accurate daily wine inventories, including breakage.

• Participate in monthly inventories

• Communicate with VC management and Promotions Coordinator weekly regarding supply and wine ordering

• Wash and dry glassware and food service utensils, according to health-code standards.

• Execute 100% accuracy cash reconciliation and deposit delivery to bank.

• Required to participate in a lead capacity at DCC events.

Newton - Cellar Worker III

Perform intermediate to advanced cellar operations with limited supervision in order to create wines of the highest quality. 

Cellar Work:  (85%)

·         With limited supervision, perform and direct routine operation of pumps and filters to rack, transfer, and clarify juice and wine.

·         Under limited supervision operate all complex cellar equipment, including: membrane and pad filters, heat exchanger.

·         Enter accurate and detailed bulk inventory gauging and transfer information on cellar work orders.

·         Monitor accuracy and completeness of cellar work orders conducted by Cellar I and Cellar II staff.

·         Responsible for sanitation of equipment and facilities in all areas of cellar activity.

·         Collect wine samples and general support for laboratory sampling.

·         Perform and direct chemical additions to wine.

·         Perform and direct basic equipment maintenance such as hose repair.

·         Submit Maintenance requests via online request process.

·         Perform and direct barrel maintenance.

·         Perform all barrel procedures including receiving, prepping, filling, topping, cleaning/sanitation, and inventory.

·         Set both manual and automatic tank temperature control.

·         Safely operate forklift and handcarts.

·         Operate and direct operation of presses and crushers.

·         Handle shipping and receiving of wine tankers and grape deliveries.

·         Maintain yeast and malo-lactic cultures to ensure viability.

 

Team Support and Administrative:  (15%)

·         Participate in safety, department, and company meetings.

·         General support and coordination with Laboratory and Operations departments.

·         Train and direct less skilled workers.

·         Conduct inventory on wine and supplies.

·         Take lead role in equipment repair and preventative maintenance programs.

Review completed work orders for accuracy.

 

Education: High school diploma or GED required.                    

Languages: Fluent English

Professional experience & know how:

  • Minimum 4 years winery cellar experience.
  • Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals.
  • Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures.
  • Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures.
  • Ability to drive a forklift and become forklift certified.   

Technical & management skills:

  • Ability to understand and perform basic math.
  • Ability to understand and perform basic measurements.
  • Ability to train and direct less skilled workers, including seasonal labor.
  • Preferred: intermediate knowledge and ability of the following computer software programs: MS Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook or Lotus Notes.

Personal & interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
