Carneros Vintage Brut, 2008
Aging Profile: Minimum of 3 years on the yeast
Most of Chandon’s sparkling wines are blended, non-vintage wines, designed to reflect a consistent style year to year. With this Vintage Appellation Series, we choose to create distinctive wines to showcase the unique qualities of a particular growing season from each of our vineyard appellations: Yountville, Mt. Veeder and Carneros. With this release of 2008 Vintage Brut, we showcase the fruit grown in Carneros, the site of our largest vineyard planting.
The 2008 vintage was marked by a dry and cold spring with heavy frosts. These conditions coupled with a warm summer resulted in low yields that ripened quickly, showing tremendous concentration.
Our 2008 Carneros Vintage Brut is exhibits aromas of caramel, all spice, ginger, and white stone fruits, including just-ripe nectarine. It offers a firm structure to support its caramel apple, baked pear, and kumquat flavors that are balanced by bright acidity and Carneros minerality.
This wine has a delicate earthiness that is wonderful paired with mushroom tart, fresh crab and vegetable tempura.
