CHANDON began with a bold idea: that the traditions of the world's most celebrated sparkling wines didn't belong to just one corner of the world. Rather than exporting bottles, our founders exported centuries of winemaking know-how, setting out to discover extraordinary vineyards capable of crafting exceptional sparkling in their own right. It was an idea built on curiosity, courage and a willingness to do things differently — a spirit that continues to guide us today.

Inspired by that belief, legendary Australian winemaker Dr Tony Jordan set out to find the perfect home for CHANDON in Australia. In 1986, that journey led him to the Yarra Valley.

Located on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country, our winery found its home among the region's cool climate, diverse soils and rolling vineyards. But the search didn't stop there. To craft sparkling wines with greater complexity, balance and character, we looked beyond a single region, sourcing fruit from some of Australia's finest cool-climate vineyards.

Today, our wines are shaped by our estate vineyards across the Yarra Valley, Strathbogie Ranges and the Whitlands High Plateau. Together, they give our winemakers an extraordinary palette to work with, allowing them to craft everything from our signature sparkling wines and terroir-driven expressions to innovative Winemaker Explorations and Étoile—the pinnacle of Australian luxury multi-vintage sparkling wine.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do. Passed down from our founders and refined over generations, our expertise is grounded in méthode traditionnelle—the same meticulous process behind the world's most celebrated sparkling wines. From bottle fermentation to extended ageing, patience and precision remain at the core of every wine we create.

Biodiversity is a particular passion, brought to life through our Billabong Project at our Yarra Valley Estate, where we're restoring waterways and native habitat to create a healthier, more resilient landscape for generations to come.
