Chandon étoile is crafted from layers of local flavor, and represents the abundance of character and nature found in Chandon’s home of Northern California.
The grapes for étoile are sourced from vineyards in Carneros, the coolest area of Napa and Sonoma counties. These vineyards have the natural conditions that make them ideal for growing the most noble grapes of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier, which Chandon farms for sparkling wine more than any other American winery.
Today, Chandon uses the méthode traditionnelle to craft étoile Brut and Rosé, followed by sur lie aging for five years before its release, creating a more mature, distinctive wine. Cool climate vineyards, especially in Carneros, allow for brightness and elegance in the grapes, as well as aging potential. Like all artistry, this process takes experience, patience and courage to weave nature’s elements into a delicious, sophisticated wine.
