A thinner-skinned grape with a fruitier palate than its Pinot Noir cousin, traditionally, Pinot Meunier is used in blends, especially bubbly, but we’ve been crafting it as a still varietal since 1989. It offers a lighter, aromatic red wine experience with juicy fruit characteristics.

Meunier loves cooler weather so it’s right at home under the fog off the bay in our Carneros vineyard. Here, the purity of the varietal shines, developing its signature flavors of cherry, crushed berry and notes of nutmeg and star anise. After fermentation, it is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, lending to soft and smooth tannins. The wine finishes with a hint of vanilla and refreshing brightness.

A brilliant summertime red to enjoy with veggies off the grill, or warm you up in the cool months with spaghetti Bolognese. It also makes a delightful addition to your Thanksgiving table.

AWARDS AND REVIEWS

VIBRANT RED CHERRY WITH VELVETY TEXTURE

At Chandon we carefully cultivate select grape varieties that express the exceptional terroirs of our estate vineyards in their varietal expression. Our vineyards in Los Carneros sit a mere 32 feet above sea level while the proximity to the San Pablo Bay brings daytime fog and cool breezes to the region allowing for prolonged, moderate growing seasons.

Thinner skinned than the pinot noir varietal, Chandon Pinot Meunier showcases velvety dark fruit flavors complemented by smooth tannins and refreshing brightness.
